Innovation through partnership

28 Jan 2014

At IPPE, the most important tradeshow for the poultry, meat and further processing industries on the American continent, signs of an improving investment climate in the region are getting stronger. The recent successful installation of the first Marel Stork big bird processing line in the USA is one of them. Another success is the confirmation of an agreement between Marel Stork and Agrosuper (Chile) for the delivery of a complete new poultry processing plant. It’s a proof of the value of a long lasting relation and close partnership with our customers.

IPPE: Innovation Through Partnership

Marel, participating for 52 years now, has one of the largest stands at the IPPE tradeshow in Atlanta, Georgia. It offers an attractive overview of the best solutions for poultry, meat and further processing equipment. Anton de Weerd, Managing Director of Marel Stork Poultry Processing says: “The stand crew, joining forces from all over the world, is promoting the many innovative solutions that are on display. Many friends from the industry visit our booth, new contacts are added. The 2014 IPPE theme for Marel is “Innovation through partnership”, underlining one of our core strengths: being technological market leader in many aspects of the food processing industry. It seems that the ‘new world’ is opening up for new challenging opportunities!”

Agrosuper Poultry Processing Greenfield Project

The recently confirmed greenfield project in Lo Miranda (near Rancagua, Chile) includes two poultry processing lines and covers all processing steps from live bird handling, automatic evisceration and giblet processing, up to air chilling, automatic grading and cutup. The plant will be equipped with the latest technology in top class poultry processing technology.

This greenfield project is a confirmation of the long lasting partnership between Agrosuper and Marel. Agrosuper’s plant in Lo Miranda suffered a devastating fire in December 2013. Within few hours after the fire started, the production management of Agrosuper contacted Marel Storks area sales manager to talk about possible solutions. In just few weeks a team consisting of Agrosuper, Poch Engineering and Marel Stork designed the layout for a completely new plant at Lo Miranda. The current plans schedule production startup at the 1st of September 2014. The long history of close cooperation between Marel and Agrosuper gives the team full confidence that this tight planning can be realized.
