R&D Engineer, Controls/Mechatronic
      II.            Major Responsibilities

The R&D Engineer for controls is a role within Innovation team in Industry Poultry in Gainesville, GA.  The R&D engineer is to provde controls & electrical support to the otherwise mechanically orientated Innovation team and become the controls specialist for Gainesville office.  The Engineer needs to gain knowledge about available technology & understanding of poultry processing. As a member of the R&D team he needs to be able to identify opportunities for new developments in a poultry processing plant,  perform feasibility studies which may include fabrication/assembly and critically evaluate concepts for futher development.
   III.            Specific Activities
  • Gain knowledge of Marel current portfolio, technology & available solutions 
  • Gain knowledge of the processes in a poultry plant from the exit of the chiller through packaging.
  • Establish a connection to Marel development teams in other regions
  • Document & report development activities
  • Work with project based development teams & independently
  • Travel as necessary to fulfill responsibilities.  Estimated travel 25% to 50% (domestic & International)
   IV.            Skills and Experience
  • Must have ability to use hand tools, work on prototypes & seek support to have parts designed/fabricated
  • Must be capable to work independently and with a team
  • Able to work within a very demanding environment such as a startup of new equipment
  • Efficient in time management
  • Discipline in documenting development activities
  • Able to work on multiple projects at one time
  • Computer literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PLM, etc
  • Success driven and flexible



        I.            Education and Work Experience
  • A technical degree and hands on experience from a trade valuable to the role
  • Experience with scripting languages, for example python is a benefit and ability to use LUA programming
  • Hands on experience with controls & electrical
  • PLC & Structured text programming
  • Creativity and ability to design concepts & mockups/prototypes
  • Experience with fabricating, welding, machining or assembly is valuable
