Outstanding Bone Detection

Marel’s SensorX sets the standard in bone detection. Advanced sensing technology and cutting-edge software give the SensorX bone detection capabilities and reliable performance that is unprecedented among automatic bone detection systems.

The SensorX produces much more reliable and consistent results in a production environment than manual inspection.

How it Works

The SensorX scans the product using advanced X-ray technology.

SensorX bone detection system

Product with bone is rejected to a workstation with a display showing the precise location of the bone. The bone (or other contaminant) is removed by the operator before the product is re-scanned for added safety.

In addition to bone detection, the SensorX can detect other contaminants such as metal, stone and glass.

The SensorX commonly achieves a 99% detection rate on calcified bones larger than 2mm, with false positives at or below  3%. With the accurate bone detection of the SensorX, bone risk is no longer an inevitable part of poultry processing.

X-ray Weighing

The SensorX bone detection system now performs weighing using X-ray.

SmartSort

The SensorX bone detection system now performs weighing using X-ray. The SmartSort is a discharge unit that can be positioned after the SensorX bone detection system. Together, the SensorX and SmartSort, with its unrivaled small floor footprint combine X-ray bone detection and grading in one compact solution.

The SmartSort gently diverts product into a crate, box/combo, or onto a conveyor based on weight. It uses the weight information from the SensorX so there is no need for a dynamic weighing unit.
 

Down with false positives!

Performance statistics of bone detection machines may look impressive, but they will only reflect the true situation if the false positive rate is also included. A bone detection machine which gives too many false positives is useless. Marel’s latest SensorX software not only reduces the incidence of false positives to an absolute industry minimum but also detects those difficult to find bone fragments more accurately. This means less rework and fewer inspectors, enhancing still further the machine’s already excellent performance.

SensorX sizes and systems

SensorX is available in four standard configurations:

Marel offers different types of standard logistic systems around the SensorX, depending on each customer needs. Marel’s standard SensorX solutions are available in two different sizes, 300mm or 500mm, with or without a rework station for re-inspection.
The 300mm size is suitable for most applications. The 500mm size is designed to handle higher throughput, such as after two Stork AMF filleting systems.

Without rework
These compact systems are a good solution when space is tight, either as an inline or offline solution.

With rework
The systems with rework are the choice for most processors and works well as inline or offline solution. The rework mechanism guarantees re-inspection of contaminated fillets.

Enhance processing performance with Innova

SensorX bone rate over time report

This report shows the bone rate over time. The average rate for the selected period is also displayed.

Control
Marel’s production management software, gives poultry processors the most effective processing control of their SensorX. Innova enables processors to control and monitor in order to improve processing performance.

Monitor
Innova is a great tool to monitor SensorX operations in real-time as well as collect historical data on bone and hard contaminants rate. Innova provides the user with live views for monitoring actual performance on the x-ray machine, and delivers reports on throughput, infeed quality, bone detection. 

Improve
Innova enables processors to improve their performance. By monitoring the bone rate primary processors can improve the performance on the deboning process. Further processors can monitor the quality of delivered material from their suppliers compare suppliers quality.
