Trond Davidsen, President of ISFA, the International Salmon Farmers Association

The future of farmed salmon

Trond Davidsen will share some of his insights into current trends and challenges of salmon farming and his expectations of the future of the industry.

Since 2012, Trond has been President of ISFA – an umbrella organization comprised of national and regional salmon farming associations from around the world. He has also been Deputy Managing Director of the Norwegian Seafood Federation since 2014.

Trond’s previous positions include Head of Aquaculture at the Norwegian Seafood Federation (2004-2014); Managing Director of the Norwegian Fish Farmers Association in Trondheim (2001 to 2004); Adviser and Director for Market Access, PR and Information at the Norwegian Seafood Export Council (1995-2001); and research assistant and researcher at NORUT Social Science Research (1988-1995). His background is in political science, which he studied at Uppsala University and the University in Tromsoe.

The uniqueness of the New Zealand salmon industry

Grant Rosewarne will present the uniqueness of the New Zealand salmon industry compared to the global salmon market.

Grant has considerable experience in the sales, marketing and general management of fast moving consumer goods. Grant has worked across a number of fast moving consumer goods categories including dairy, wine, fresh produce and dry grocery as well as food service segments from cafes to fine dining. Grant’s international business expertise spans Britain, Europe and Australasia, with blue-chip companies such as Unilever, Cerebos and Douwe Egberts/Sara Lee.

Grant was appointed CEO of New Zealand King Salmon in 2009 and Managing Director in 2016. During his time with the business, Grant has focused on lifting New Zealand King Salmon's unique products from a premium commodity to a worldwide branded food delicacy.
