DEMONSTRATIONS AT THE 2018 SALMON SHOWHOW
WORLD PREMIERE – FLEXICUT BONE REMOVAL
FleXicut Salmon cuts the pinbones from pre-rigor salmon fillets. It uses X-ray vision to locate the bones and ensures minimum yield loss by adjusting the water-jet cutting angle to remove bones according to their precise location each time. The machine also expands future processing opportunities by using both water-jet cutters and knives to portion the salmon.
NEW QUALITY SCANNER
We are thrilled to demonstrate quality scanning of salmon fillets – after trimming or skinning – with our new Quality Scanner MS 2920. By registering volume, color, melanin spots, blood spots, trimming defects, skinning defects, and brown meat, you can sort the fillets downstream and better control the quality and size of each fillet.
We are demonstrating the new and unique cutting principles of our automatic Deheading Machine MS 2720. Fully integrated into our latest filleting line solution at the showhow – including desliming, trimming, pinbone removal and skinning – see the outstanding results it delivers with high throughput, yield and quality. Since it was pre-launched at the 2017 Salmon ShowHow, the deheader has been tested and developed at various sites, with improvements incorporated into the 1 series released for sale 1 January 2018.
FILLETING WITH AUTOMATIC INFEED
The Filleting Machine MS 2730 has already set new standards of filleting with automatic back and belly trimming that reduces the need for manual trimming. We have now designed a new automatic infeed that improves overall filleting quality by ensuring the fish enter the machine at a steady pace and in the correct position for cutting. This new development will be demonstrated at the showhow as part of our filleting line solution.
At this year’s event we are demonstrating a variety of key applications for creating value-added products using our portion cutters: the I-Cut 130 PortionCutter for cutting fixed-weight and/or fixed-length portions; the highly efficient I-Cut 11 PortionCutter, along with packing tables; and the easy-to-use StripCutter for cutting fixed-sized portions at high speed. Our range of portioning lines offer the latest in innovative cutting patterns for loin and fillet cuts, and can deliver custom-made portions directly to orders.
Among the extensive range of Marel’s fresh salmon slicers being presented at the showhow are: the standalone single-lane MSC 50 D-Cut Slicer and MSC 90 Multi Angle Slicer; the dual-lane MSC 180 D-Cut Slicer; the advanced, high-capacity MSC 650-45 Horizontal Slicer; the high-speed Multi Angle Slicer SC 250; advanced slicing lines for fixed weight slicing with the I-Slice 135; and automatic retail pack slicing line with the I-Slice 3300.
PREMIUM LABELING AND END OF LINE
Marel follows your product not only through processing to dispatch, but also supplies a range of end-of-line solutions. Our end-of-line demonstrations at the 2018 event include labelers, floor scales and packing lines. The new M360 wide edge, linerless labeler, for example, has been the talk of the food processing industry since its launch in 2016, and has garnered great reviews for its speed, ease of use and branding impact. We also demonstrate our full wash-down MCheck2 Checkweigher that ensures correct weight before packing.
