BBC: How an Icelandic firm became a global food giant

A coverage about Marel was broadcast on BBC World TV network yesterday. A shorter version of it and accompanying web article is available on the BBC website.

The coverage is part of the BBC Business World Series on companies that started local and expanded their operations to become global players in their field. Only 20 companies worldwide were selected and Marel is truly honoured to take part in this interesting initiative by the BBC.

In addition to interviewing Marel's CEO Árni Oddur, the BBC also received interesting input from Gudbjörg Heida Gudmundsdóttir, the Innovation Manager in the Innovation Cluster Iceland & UK, on the many recent innovations rolled out at Marel.

The BBC also had a chance to visit one of Marel’s long standing customer Vísir in Grindavík, Iceland to see some of the equipment in action.

Jóhann Helgason, Manager of Fresh and Frozen Products, also gave interesting insights into how Marel is transforming the way food is processed in partnership with customers.

The program will be on BBC World News and on www.bbc.com for a week.
