From carcass intake to product dispatch

Marel demonstrated its vast array of applications available to the meat industry at the Meat ShowHow 2014. The event attracted close to 200 processors from as far away as Kenya and Australia.

The stage was set at Marel’s new demo center, Progress Point in Copenhagen, for a day of live processing demonstrations – from carcass intake to product dispatch.

In the Deboning section the new DeboFlex pork deboning system was demonstrated, together with the StreamLine primal deboning and trimming system, trim handling, preparation, and meat harvesting systems.

Going into the Case Ready section of the floor layout, a number of lines had been set up from meat mass forming, steak cutting, marinating, batching, packing and labeling to case-ready retail packs.

On top of it all, most processes were linked to Marel’s Innova Food Processing Software – for reporting, control, and management purposes.

During the day, visitors were given live demonstrations of each system, and had the opportunity to discuss their own operations and particular application requirements in depth with Marel process consultants.

Visitors could also attend presentations about “Quality Control” and “Trends in the global raw material supply and consumer trends”.

The convenient location of Progress Point—just 10 minutes from Copenhagen Airport—meant that many visitors were able to participate in the event and return to their processing facility within a short time.
