Innova release 5.3.0

Innova Release 5.3.0: The new Innova Labeling system is a powerful label design and printing system specially designed for the food production industry. The system is fully integrated with other Innova modules and the Innova database making it very easy to create and manage label designs. A new Marine Grader solution has been created that is especially designed for whole-fish grading and freezing systems out at sea. Fish is graded into batches which are subsequently assigned to freezers.

Innova Labeling System

The new Innova Labeling system is a powerful label design and printing system specially designed for the food production industry. The system is fully integrated with other Innova modules and the Innova database making it very easy to create and manage label designs.

The system consists of three main components:

  • A Label management and design system allows the user to easily manage and design labels. Label designs can be used on multiple types of printers.
  • A Printer management system allows the user to install new printers and to configure and monitor installed printers.
  • A Print engine loads label layouts and joins with production data at runtime to produce the graphic images that are sent to the printer.

The Innova label printing system continues to seamlessly support all pre-existing labeling functionality (Stream layouts, NiceLabel, Bartender, Report print service and Comformats).

LABEL MANAGEMENT AND DESIGN

The Label management and design system allows the user to easily manage and design labels. The system has eight main screens:

  • The Explorer can be used as a starting point to find label layouts and other label components. From the explorer new layouts and components can be created and edited.
  • Label layouts are designed in the Label layout editor.
  • With the Group layout editor it is possible to set up combined print operations. This makes it possible to print multiple labels on multiple printers for a single unit.
  • The Media type editor is used to define the properties of label stock.
  • The Composite text editor allows the user to create field values out of a series of other field values and/or constants.
  • The GS1-128 text editor allows the user to set up data for GS1/EAN128 barcodes.
  • The Script editor is used to manage scripts that can be used for creating custom field values or to control print operations.
  • The Image editor allows the user to load images in multiple resolutions that can be used in label designs and printed on labels.

The Label layout editor allows the user to design and preview label layouts. The user can arrange data fields, texts, barcodes, graphics (lines, etc.) and images on a design surface. All properties of the layout components can be set in the designer (font, size, etc.).

In the Label layout editor you can view and design label layouts. The Label layout editor has a Designer mode where you can arrange the various elements on the layout and a Preview mode where you can see what the label will look like when it's printed. Multiple layouts can be displayed at the same time. You can associate a data record (such as a pack) with the layout so that information from the database is displayed on the label as you design it or you can supply sample values for individual fields.

PRINTER MANAGEMENT

The printer management system allows the user to install new printers and to configure and monitor installed printers. Print jobs can be seen going to the printers in real time along with images of the printed labels. The operational status of the printer is also displayed (head lifted, out of paper, etc.).

Marine Grader Solution

A new Marine Grader solution has been created that is especially designed for whole-fish grading and freezing systems out at sea. Fish is graded into batches which are subsequently assigned to freezers. After the product is frozen the freezers are emptied, the product is labeled and then queued up to leave the freezing area. The solution provides an easy way for the freezer operator to manage the contents of the freezers and to maintain lot traceability through the whole process. The operator can choose which batches are assigned to which freezers and remove the product once it is frozen so that it can be labeled and stored.
