Polish poultry industry keeps growing

The Polagra-Tech event made clear that the Polish poultry processing industry is still growing, with a focus on automation of secondary processes.

Polagra-Tech, the international Polish trade fair of food processing technologies, took place from 30 September to 4 October at the Congress Center in Poznań, Poland. Marel Poultry’s booth turned out to be very popular among the mid segment of Polish processors, whose interest was aroused by the high level of automation and robotizing in our processing solutions.

Polagra-Tech is a huge trade event, which aims on Polish visitors only and combines all segments of food processing, from bread to fruit. Meat processing is just one of the many focus areas and among them poultry processing is even a more specialist business. It is quite logical therefore, that all of Marel’s industries were represented on the stand, meat, poultry, fish, and further processing, accompanied by Marel Water Treatment and Innova.

Middle segment Marel Poultry could welcome a great deal of representatives from the middle segment of the Polish poultry industry. Therefore, Polagra-Tech was the excellent opportunity to meet with these participants in the Polish processing market–who are not so well-represented at other events–, and find out about their specific demands.

Still growing

“Polagra-Tech made clear that the Polish poultry processing industry is still growing. In the last years, our company noticed a substantial growth and this trend seems to continue for the coming years. Expectations are that financial support from the government and projects from investors abroad will boost the Polish poultry business further,” says Mathieu van Dongen, regional sales manager Marel Poultry. This was illustrated by some commitments made by Marel Poultry’s customers during Polagra-Tech. Some significant steps were made in negotiations about four different AMF-i breast cap filleting projects, while a deal for an ACM-NT automated cut-up line was confirmed with a handshake.

Robotic batching

During this year’s Polagra-Tech expo, the RoboBatcher Flex was one of Marel Poultry’s focus points. “Since this summer, we installed two RoboBatchers, the first ones in Poland. At Polagra-Tech, many more Polish processors showed great interest in this robotic fillet batching system. In general, there’s a growth in investments in automated secondary processing. In Poland too, the availability of labor is declining, so automation of manual processes becomes an important issue,” concludes Mathieu van Dongen.
