Information
The main benefit of the Marel flowline concept compared to a pan-based system is that fillets flow directly from filleting through trimming without being stacked or placed in intermediate storage. The raw material is weighed, graded, cut and packed in a continuous flow, which increases capacity by 50 to 80% per man hour.
System
The Marel whitefish trimming line has individual operator stations for trimming fillets.
Each station has a worktable and bins for products and trimmings, and each operator is individually monitored, allowing the implementation of personal achievement systems.
The trimming line is controlled by the Marel Innova Trimming software module. Raw material is weighed, graded, cut and packed in a continuous flow, increasing capacity by 50 to 80% per man hour.
The Marel whitefish trimming line plays a key role in the company's flowline concept. It is also suitable for other species, for example catfish, or where product needs to be lit up on an illuminated workbench for inspection.
Individual monitoring
Marel's Window's-based Innova software collects data and monitors the entire production process, including individual and overall throughput, yield, capacity and quality. This allows production managers to take immediate action when problems occur.
Trimming stations
Individual worker statistics - including worker name, speed, quality, utilization, product types, working time, and other data - are collected at each trimming station and products are weighed as they exit.
Random quality-control sampling monitors defects, and stations with a higher occurrence of problems have their sampling frequency increased. And as the flowline system operates as a continuous flow, the chance of bacterial contamination is greatly reduced.
Systems are available for whitefish, catfish and crab.
