AeroScalder nominated for Food Valley Award

Marel Stork Poultry Processing has been nominated for the prestigious Dutch Food Valley Award 2015. In the poultry processing industry the nominated AeroScalder is indeed a revolutionary, innovative solution with many benefits from economical, hygienic and environmental points of view.

Marel Stork nominee Food Valley AwardThe Dutch Food Valley organization supports companies who dare to be innovative. Therefore Food Valley has created a yearly prize for the best agro-food innovation. For 2015 the Marel Stork AeroScalder is one of the three nominees, next to Peeze coffee capsules and Pectcof pectin-extraction.

Technological innovation was an important argument for nominating the AeroScalder. Its avant-garde process technology uses moisturized hot air as the scalding medium, saving up to 75 percent of water and up to 50 percent of energy compared to traditional immersion scalding systems. Besides that, the AeroScalder offers many other advantages. Cross-contamination is prevented while the process stability ensures that the first and last product get exactly the same treatment. Moreover, the odor emission is significantly lower. 

The Food valley jury judged the entries based on their innovation, economic applicability and cooperation. "In our judgments, the economic feasibility was an essential argument, because ultimately that’s the basis of any success. Furthermore the attention to sustainability was also important. Companies in the Netherlands are making big steps forward and the agro-food business is operating innovatively overall. The nominees for the Food Valley Award are confirming this", says Leo den Hartog, chairman of the jury.

The awarding ceremony will take place during the Food Valley Expo on Tuesday October 13th at the university campus of Wageningen, the Netherlands.
