The Opportunity
The role of Area Sales Manager – Poultry is to be the industry process expert responsible for reaching the commercial targets agreed for a region. You need to work in close collaboration with Sales Director in the region, Account Managers, Distribution Partners, and regional Sales Operations. You come with depth process knowledge and uses this knowledge to determine the best processing solution based on customer needs that result in developing and selling (complex) solutions. They have lead responsibility for selling complex solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for and own opportunities for complex solutions
- Participate in the process of establishing and implementing a structural industry market plan within a region
- Drive the sales of selling complex solutions; justify their value and increase Marel’s market share year on year while meeting customer requirements.
- Support and train Account Managers with in depth process knowledge
- Responsible for realizing sales (targets in volume and achieving the best possible price and market share for complex solutions
- Analyze customer needs and offer best solution
- Responsible for visit reports, opportunity registration and follow-up (maintaining data in Company CRM systems)
- Participation in the organizing of commercial activities such as exhibitions, demos and other events
- Collect and report general market information and desires as well as needs of customers and relations
- Collect information on competitors’ activities, installed base, requirements and developments
- Required to meet KPI (Key Product Indicators) goals with sales and margins
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Able to analyze processes at the customer and advise on improvements
- Ability to concentrate, handle pressure, meet deadlines, and pay attention to detail while maintaining a positive attitude
- Excellent verbal, communication and listening skills required, ability to work with customers at a high level in the organization, vendors, and co-workers in a professional and tactful manner to resolve problems
- Motivated, outgoing, self-starter
- Results driven
- Able to follow through on duties and assignments with minimal supervision
- Excellent time management skills, the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or other relevant subject, or experience equivalent to a four year degree
- 5 years’ experience in outside business-to-business sales of technical/ mechanical systems and equip-ment, preferably with an international company
- Up-to-date and in-depth knowledge of the product and processing techniques within own account/area of responsibility/industry
- Ability to use relevant software, such as CRM system, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent skills in written and verbal English
- Able to commit to extensive travel within assigned sales territory (up to 40%)
- Ability to travel outside the country for sales and training purposes as needed
- Experience with and comfort working in a multi-cultural, multi-discipline organization is an advantage
