Effective innovation using simulation and extended reality

Virtual and augmented reality is a large part of Marel’s future. Haukur Hafsteinsson, Embedded Software Engineer, explained how Marel has begun to use virtual simulations to test product prototypes before building physical versions.

The use of virtual reality allows Marel to provide customers with a preview of what their factory would look like and what their production numbers might be with new equipment without having to set the equipment up, saving both the customer and Marel huge costs.

From packing to dispatch

Traceability and quality control

Michael Parrish, Software Product Manager, talked about how our software works to provide both advanced traceability and enhances quality control through traceability.

With our software, information is collected from the reception of raw materials throughout the entire production process allowing processors to know where ingredients are from, what was done to them, and what additional ingredients were using.

This allows for greater traceability and much higher quality control by being able to determine when and where the production is not operating optimally. This also tied into the concept of utilizing traceability and quality control modules for better food safety management.

Traceability and recipe
