Senior Director, Manufacturing Transformation

The Head of Manufacturing Transformation is responsible for:

  • Establishing and measuring operational standards for our manufacturing sites and businesses
  • Optimizing the manufacturing footprint and resources across the entire supply chain and operational functions at JBT Marel
  • Support product transfer strategies and outsourcing guidance with strong make buy models
  • Develop site COE’s based on core competence and manufacturing capability to support multiple business / divisions
  • Leverage asset management and advanced manufacturing across business / divisions

This role focuses on achieving operation/manufacturing efficiency and optimizing end-to-end supply chain performance to support the company's strategic objectives. By doing so, it enables excellent performance and service to customers and targeted end markets. The position oversees an overall team of six (6) leaders and experts in operations and manufacturing engineering supporting the operation leadership network to develop and achieve the overall manufacturing strategy supporting the P&L objectives.  

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

Main tasks associated with the job.

 Manufacturing Transformations:

  • Manufacturing Strategy:  Work with division operations leaders to align on a holistic manufacturing strategy that drives significant synergies and P&L improvements exceeding $20M in the next two years. Focus and outline strong transformation plan that can increase utilization, output and productivity for the JBT Marel divisions.

  • Site Consolidation & Expansion: In working with our divisions, develop and support execution plans and strategies for business site rooftop consolidation and or expansion to optimize the global footprint. Support the cross divisional focus for use of operations and migrate to lower cost operations for select products to support the overall footprint strategy. Navigate the key objective to implement an assemble, test, and ship model for food processing.

  • Product Transfers and Outsourcing: Work with cross functional resources to establish the business cases to transfer select products to other business sites and / or outsource manufacturing or assembly processes. Guide and support the divisions in implementing these business cases to ensure minimal disruption driving overall cost, quality, and delivery efficiency.

  • Project Management:  Support and deploy strong project management to help execute key manufacturing transformation projects ensuring preparation, alignment, resources, and accountability on tasks.  Projects need to be guided by data and milestones where the team can regroup driving strong change management and execution, minimizing supply disruptions, and ensuring strong communication at all cross functional levels. 

  • Site Center of Excellence (COE):  Guide / support the profitable growth of targeted JBT Marel manufacturing and warehouse part distribution facilities increasing business volume from multiple divisions targeting a 75% overall capacity utilization rate.

  • Asset Management and Advanced manufacturing:  Develop and implement asset management strategies to ensure optimal utilization and maintenance of equipment across the JBT rooftop business footprint. This will also entail publishing JBT Marel equipment across the supply chain /operations network and dispositioning on the use of select equipment and selling it for maximum value. Review and propose implementing or migrating to advanced manufacturing technologies and methodologies to enhance production efficiency and quality and begin the equipment standardization journey.

  • Sales and Service Footprint: Drive key footprint changes based on a fact-pack of JBT combined sales and service footprint to achieve yearly synergy targets.

  • 80/20 Tool Set & KPIs: Implement the 80/20 tools to focus on the high impact activities. Use and standardize on key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and drive operational excellence for overall business, divisions and JBT Marel.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in global supply chain and operations for OEM and aftermarket products in a high mix low volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in an operational excellence position or with operational responsibility in a line management position across multiple countries with a matrix organization supporting various profit & loss businesses.

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Preferred: Master’s degree (MBA); Lean Certifications or Minimum of Lean Six Sigma Green Belt; A.P.I.C.S. and/or N.A.P.M. certifications are highly desirable.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and strong change management skills
  • Cross functional leadership and team building expertise with a proven record of results and achievement
  • Experience in driving total cost and process improvements year over year in operations and manufacturing environment through continuous improvement toolsets, team development, automation and value (VA/VE) creation efforts
  • Demonstrated global mindset in operations for engineered and metal-based products
  • Strong ability to build relationships and lead effectively at all levels
  • Executive presence with the ability to effectively present and communicate results to Board of Directors and Executive Leaders
  • Connects and engages with people across levels, functions, culture, and geography, including teams in production, assembly, and part warehouse / distribution
  • Outstanding interpersonal and strategic influencing skills demonstrating senior leadership and accountability
