IRIS and SmartWeigher implemented in Salvadoran plant

CMI El Salvador

Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI) is further strengthening its position as a leading food producer in the Middle American region. The company has recently announced a second phase of investments in its poultry processing plant in Zapotitán, Ciudad Arce, El Salvador. This expansion builds upon a major upgrade initiated in 2023, demonstrating CMI's ongoing dedication to innovation and delivering high-quality products.

Emilio Porta, CMI's General Manager of Meat Solutions, says, “At CMI, we're dedicated to supporting the economic growth and food security of our region here in El Salvador. That's why we continually invest in our operations to deliver top-notch products that represent the local traditions and tastes, like Pollo Indio. These upgrades help us streamline our processes and reinforce our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction."

Advanced distribution

Part of the most recent upgrade is CMI’s implementation of a cutting-edge whole-product distribution system from Marel. This system uses advanced IRIS cameras and a SmartWeigher to accurately assess product quality and weight. The technology optimizes the automated grading process, ensuring that Pollo Indio products consistently meet customer and consumer specifications. This system adds to the efficiency of the distribution process and reinforces the brand's reputation for quality. It solidifies Pollo Indio’s position as a leader in the Salvadoran market.

Since 2022, CMI has been executing an investment plan across the countries where it operates, focusing on infrastructure, technology, and innovation, all with an emphasis on sustainability. In El Salvador, CMI creates approximately 8,000 direct jobs and operates well-known brands such as Pollo Campero, Don Pollo, Pollo Indio, Toledo, Pasta Fama, Pasta Ina, Molinos Modernos, Del Comal, Aliansa, Gama, Can Can, and others. Also in El Salvador, CMI’s poultry operations are particularly geared toward enhancing the nation’s food security through key projects like a poultry farm in the central region and a distribution center in the east.

“As we continue to invest in El Salvador, we are proud to support local economic and social development. By expanding trusted brands like Pollo Indio, we ensure our customers receive the highest quality products, providing confidence in their origin. In this way, we reaffirm our leadership,” said CMI Meat Solutions Business Director Miguel Ángel Pinto.

These upgrades help us streamline our processes and reinforce our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
