Information
In most processing plants, various by-products are processed separately. For example, heads, feet and intestines are taken to a central buffer for processing into ingredients for the animal feed or pet food industry.
A vacuum system is an effective way of collecting and transporting edible and non-edible by-products from primary and secondary processes. JBT Marel’s Vacuum Transport System is energy-efficient and user-friendly. Thanks to its collecting bins, extended piping, powerful vacuum pumps, robust cyclones and large CIP system, it is capable of handling the huge volumes of material generated by today’s and tomorrow’s highest throughput multi-shift plants.
A user-friendly HMI display
The Vacuum Transport System features HMI (Human Machine Interface) control panels for the vacuum transport system itself, for its CIP system, and for the cyclones. The touchscreens allow for monitoring and reporting of the processes. The program can also be adjusted to balance the load when certain collection points are overloaded while others are underutilized. Errors can be traced quickly, avoiding costly excessive downtime.
In case of an alert, the plant’s engineer can call on the remote help of a JBT Marel specialist via the VPN internet connection, again to keep any downtime of the vacuum system to an absolute minimum. This increases overall operating efficiency and reduces energy.
Cyclones
The cyclones in JBT Marel's Vacuum Transport System, used to collect feathers, offal, and dust from the air stream, are very robust to handle almost continuous operation at the highest hourly throughputs. They incorporate thick wall material, bracing, and a large diameter cylinder. Apart from offering durability, the cyclones also make for an air-tight operation.
Cleaning In Place (CIP)
In some markets, if vacuum transport systems are to move organs or by-products to be sold for human consumption, the installation of a CIP system is mandatory.
The capacity of JBT Marel's CIP tank is 1800 liters. This saves floor space in large installations where previously two tanks would have been needed. Large diameter fill and drain pipework saves important time.
Water and space saving
JBT Marel's automatic Vacuum Transport System does not include any containers that need to be washed each time they are emptied. The system is totally enclosed, smell-free and doesn't use any water. This means more valuable residual meat because albumen and fats are not flushed away with the water. As a consequence, the water purification costs are also lower.
All transport piping from collection points to destinations can be located on the roof, so it does not occupy valuable floor space.
