Waste-to-energy or WtE is the process of generating energy in the form of electricity and/or heat from the primary treatment of waste, or the processing of waste into a fuel source.

Besides that WtE is also about reducing the amount of waste which is produced or pre-pare the waste in such a way that the footprint and costs of further treatment are reduced.
