At the Seafood Processing Global expo in Brussels this week, Marel shone a spotlight on the way fish processors can take advantage of Industry 4.0 technologies to improve the way they process fish.

“What we're demonstrating here at Marel is that processors can build up smarter factories to scale up product quality and productivity,” explains Stella Kristinsdóttir, Marketing Manager Marel Fish, in this short video at the expo:

As announced in the lead up to the event, Marel demonstrated many new products and released four of them for sale in Brussels: the fully automatic RoboBatcher Thermoformer, the new and improved Compact Grader, the FleXitrim trimming line, and the new M2400 Scales for grading and packing.

Speaking at the official launch of the new products at Marel’s stand 8 May, Diego Lages (Sales Manager Marel Fish) explained how exciting it has been for Marel to develop these products and in particular to keep building on the FleXicut system.

“Today is a very special day for the Marel family because our FleXicut is celebrating its fifth birthday,” he added, “and we’ve now sold more than 40 units around the world.”

Several companies signed major deals with Marel at the event, including Canadian business Icewater Seafoods, and Icelandic companies Vísir and Ísfélag:

In today’s fish processing industry, factories need to be smarter than ever to meet customer needs and remain competitive. Marel focuses on helping processors realize this goal by supplying them with the hardware, software and service they need to evolve into smart factories that consistently make the best use of processing technology.
