Ísfélag Vestmannaeyja has signed an agreement with Marel in Brussels today for a FleXicut system to be installed in their factory in the Westman Islands.

The solution will include a FleXitrim pre-trimming line, a FleXicut automatic pinboning and portioning machine, and intelligent product distribution with FleXiSort.

The highly automated system will optimize efficiency and product quality. It’s compact enough to easily fit into their existing facility, and will be integrated with their other Marel equipment, such as a drop-down grader.

“We look forward to the benefits this solution will give us,” said Björn Brimar Hákonarson, Production Manager at the company’s plant in the Westman Islands, at the signing of the agreement. “Marel keeps making the most of new technologies to solve processing challenges in better and better ways, so we look forward to what they come up with next.”

Ísfélag and Marel have a long-standing relationship built on the joint exploration of processing technology. Ísfélag Vestmannaeyja hf. was founded in 1901 and owns and operates three pelagic vessels, two groundfish vessels and one longliner, in addition to running factories both in the Westman Islands and at Thorshofn.
