Poultry Forum China marks a return to business

International Poultry Forum China 2

The 9th International Poultry Forum, held on August 7th and 8th in Jinan City, Shandong Province, China, was one of the very first physical events in the poultry industry since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. It marks a crucial point in time when a return to business seems to be initiated. More than 500, mostly Chinese, participants attended the Poultry Forum, co-sponsored by Marel.

Of course, more face masks than usual were worn during the forum discussions and social distancing was respected for better or for worse, which meant empty chairs in between people. The quality level of the audience was high, covering the entire spectrum of the poultry industry, including key players in poultry feeding, production, processing and other services in the value chain.

Surviving the crisis

During the 3-day event, plenty of interesting and topical subjects were treated, also in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic that has swept the world. Facing the outbreak, the global poultry industry has been seeking development in the crisis. As for China, the poultry industry companies, mainly through self-help, have found solutions to survive in the crisis, by ensuring continuity and safety of the supply chain. At the same time, risk management response of the industry has been tested during the outbreak. It has definitely enhanced the public safety awareness of enterprises.

Double pressure

The 2020 International Poultry Industry Forum’s theme was "Innovative and progressive poultry industry,” focusing on the future of sustainable development of the poultry industry. 2020 is also the year of the implementation of China's feed regulations on no-antibiotics. This means that China's poultry industry is currently looking for the development of the future under the double pressure of crises and regulations.
