The new virtual reality experience is a hit with visitors, who use VR glasses to explore in 360° how the revolutionary FleXicut system automatically removes bones, portions and distributes up to 500 individual portions per minute to various processing streams such as fresh packing or IQF freezing.
Visitors have also been impressed by the FleXicut pinboning and portioning line being demonstrated in situ at Marel’s stand with a new pre-trim solution and updated product distribution system that produces uniform, clean cut products of the highest quality.
The combined experience makes it easy to see how automatic bone removal is transforming the whitefish industry by reducing the need for skilled labor, improving product handling and yield, and opening the way for even greater automation at other points in the process.
The wide range of salmon equipment at Marel’s stand has drawn a lot of interest too, especially the latest salmon filleting line, which now integrates automatic deheading.
The Icelandic Minister of Fisheries, Thorgerdur Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, and a delegation visited the stand and was introduced to the most recent innovations, including the FleXicut line and the brand new automatic salmon deheader.
Demonstrations of the deheader at the stand show how the machine measures each fish and adjusts the precision cutting tools accordingly, also cutting off the tail, before automatically feeding the headed fish into Marel’s flagship MS2730 filleting machine.
Marel’s demonstrations of a wide range of whitefish and salmon processing equipment are showing visitors how they can optimize yield and throughput, and maintain top raw material quality.
Furthermore, Innova Food Processing Software is connected to most of the equipment on display, and visitors have been stepping into the Innova-powered office at Marel’s stand to get a real sense of how the software covers the most important manufacturing execution system (MES) functionality required in today’s fish processing.
