  • Matching supply to demand
  • Increased yield

Information

On a daily basis, poultry processors face a constantly fluctuating demand for tailored products, and they have to get their planning done. By introducing product assessment in an early stage, Marel Poultry assists processors in adjusting supply to demand.

Not estimates, but facts

Usually, poultry products are graded in the selection line, after leaving the chilling tunnel. In this manner decision-making is only based on a limited number of products, in scope at that moment. Any little mistakes will lead to lost yield and profit.

By moving weighing and grading devices upstream in the process, knowledge about product weight and quality becomes available very early. When the products spend about two and a half hours in the air-chilled tunnel, this 'extra' time can be used for accurate planning.

Matching products with incoming orders becomes a lot easier; the processor exactly knows what to expect and can easily compose his 'recipes' i.e. the appropriate selections to meet today's orders.

Early decisions aren't based anymore on estimates but on facts, and every product will exactly be put into its most profitable form.

By optimizing production planning this way, the processor generates the highest yield possible, while fully meeting the requirements of the customers.

Early grading can be effectuated by the Marel Stork IRIS EV inspection system (with the TR-EC/G weighing overhanger), the SmartWeigher EV or the SmartWeigher DF.

IRIS with TR-EC/G

The IRIS (Intelligent reporting, inspection & selection) system can evaluate size, shape, color, texture and defects directly after evisceration. The TR-EC/G overhanger can determine the weight. This early data collection gives processors insight in the complete product supply in the chilling tunnel (about 30,000 products!).

Smartweigher EV

The SmartWeigher EV can execute the same weighing function as the TR-EC/G, but with more robustness and less need of care. At the highest capacities, the precision of the SmartWeigher is higher. This also goes for future capacities.

Even earlier - SmartWeigher DF

The very first opportunity to weigh what comes in the plant, is integrating a SmartWeigher DF in the processing line, between stunning and killing.

This solution will be able to counterbalance the weighing figures of farmer, truck, container and/or crate with accurate and consistent weighing figures.

A SmartWeigher DF can give insight in the performances of each individual farmer. It can also evaluate process efficiency by monitoring the process and pointing out the reason of a loss in yield.

  • IRIS EV inspection system in combination with TR-EC/G, a SmartWeigher EV or a SmartWeigher DF
  • Quality and weight assessment in an early stage
  • Supplying accurate figures, instead of estimates
  • Air chilling time is used to plan accurate production 'recipes'
  • IRIS evaluates size, shape, color, texture and defects directly after evisceration
  • Putting every product into its most profitable form
  • Earliest inline weighing possibility with SmartWeigher DF
  • SmartWeigher DF counterbalances the weighing figures of farmer, truck, container and/or crate
