Demonstrations

NEW: DE-PALLETIZING AND DE-ICING

We are thrilled to show our new solution for de-palletizing and de-icing, using robot technology to unload boxes from the pallet and empty the fish into the de-icing area. The system reduces heavy manual lifting while securing a steady product flow. Batch control can be programmed to deliver an exact amount of fish (kg) or boxes, giving you full control of raw material usage.

PRODUCTION CONTROL

Data is increasingly valuable in today’s hi-tech processing environment and connectivity is now a linchpin in salmon processing facilities. Designed to improve productivity and shorten cycle time, Innova Food Processing Software is an integral part of the processing equipment and solutions featured at the showhow. Step into the Innova office in the demo area, and the new Innova lab on the first floor at the event to experience some of the advantages the software has to offer.

WATER-JET PINBONE REMOVAL AND PORTIONING

FleXicut Salmon cuts the pinbones from pre-rigor salmon fillets. It uses X-ray vision to locate the bones and ensures minimum yield loss by adjusting the water-jet cutting angle to remove bones according to their precise location each time. The machine also expands future processing opportunities by using both water-jet cutters and knives to portion the salmon.

QUALITY SCANNING

Our Quality Scanner MS 2920 was demonstrated for the first time at the 2018 Salmon ShowHow. By scanning fillets after trimming or skinning—registering volume, color, melanin spots, blood spots, trimming defects, skinning defects and brown meat—you can sort the fillets downstream and better control the quality and size of each fillet. Several Quality Scanners will be in the demo hall, showing various applications.

FILLETING LINES WITH AUTOMATED FEATURES

See some of our latest filleting solutions with the industry leading Filleting machine MS 2730 including automatic back and belly trim. One line will include the Automatic Deheader MS 2720 and QC scanners checking the fillet quality after filleting and skinning. A second line features a new solution with the PaceInfeeder for steady infeed of manual deheaded fish into the filleting machine, improving the overall filleting quality.

SKINNING

The two skinning machines at the event ensure fillets are skinned without any loss in quality or capacity. The skinners optimize the flow of salmon processing lines and stand out for the way fillets are skinned head first, leaving no skin on the tail and achieving optimum yield from each fillet.

HIGH-VALUE PORTIONING

We will demonstrate a variety of key applications for creating value-added products using our portion cutters. Our range of portioning lines offer the latest in innovative cutting patterns, and can deliver custom-made portions directly to orders. The 2019 event will feature: the I-Cut 130 PortionCutter for cutting fixed-weight and/or fixed-length portions, along with pick-and-place robots; the highly efficient I-Cut 11 PortionCutter, combined with the SpeedSort to deal with the trim rejects; and the I-Cut 610 PortionCutter together with one of our QC Scanners.

EFFICIENT SLICING

As the leading supplier of slicing equipment for fresh salmon and trout, we have slicing equipment ranging from single standard units to large scale production systems including packing lines. This event will demonstrate an array of our slicers, suitable for the whole range of production needs, including the I-Slice 3300 retail pack slicer, horizontal slicers, D-cut slicers and multi-angle slicers.

GRADING AND BATCHING

Our fixed-weight batching and grading equipment helps keep giveaway as low as possible. Our Multihead Weighers batch raw material frozen or fresh and create packs based on target weight with very high capacity and accuracy. See also the fast, accurate SmartLine Grader in action, with superb hygiene and serviceability, and a comprehensive, real-time Innova reporting function that helps optimize grading and batching results.

LABELING AND END OF LINE

Our end-of-line demonstrations at the 2019 event include labelers, floor scales and packing lines. The M360 wide edge, linerless labeler offers speed, ease of use and branding impact, while the WPL9060 Weigh Price Labeler is designed for a wide range of applications and can handle all popular pack sizes at up to 60 packs/min.

Accommodation

Marel has pre-booked a number of hotel rooms at Hotel Scandic Copenhagen, which is located in central Copenhagen with several attractions within walking distance of the hotel. All rooms have free WIFI Internet access.

The room rate is set at DKK 1125 / EUR 151 per night including breakfast. Payment is managed by each individual when checking out.

Once your registration to attend the Salmon ShowHow is confirmed, you will receive an e-mail from Marel with instructions and a booking number to use for the hotel reservation, if you have chosen to stay there. You should use this number to book one of the rooms reserved by Marel.

Shuttle bus

There will be a free shuttle bus service to Progress Point leaving the Hotel Scandic Copenhagen at 8.30 in the morning. When the show has ended, shuttle buses will transport our guests to the Hotel Scandic Copenhagen. The dinner event will take place within walking distance of the hotel.

 

How to get there

The Salmon ShowHow is being held at Progress Point, Marel's training and demonstration facility, conveniently located just five minutes from Copenhagen International airport (CPH).

From Copenhagen airport

  • A taxi from the airport, straight to Progress Point will cost approximately DKK 110 / EUR 14.
  • The Hotel Scandic Copenhagen, where rooms have been pre-booked for event delegates, is approximately 25 minutes from the airport.

From the center of Copenhagen

  • Train: The whole trip takes around 40 minutes and a ticket for three zones is required (DKK 33 /EUR 4.50).
    Take the Copenhagen Airport/Malmo train from the central train station to Tarnby station, then bus 350S to Ingstrup Alle stop. From there it's a 3-minute walk to Progress Point.
  • Taxi: Takes around 20 minutes and costs approximately DKK 250/EUR 35.
