An accurate flour pre-dusting process is the key to a coated product with a “crispy bite”. Applying a fine coating of flour to products with a smooth surface creates a good adhesive layer that better absorbs batter and other coatings. The final result is an attractive, crunchy product. That may sound simple, but working with the fine particles of flour is a science of its own.

Marel’s Active Flour Applicator is the ideal pre-dust coating solution for the convenience food and snack industry and fits perfectly in a complete convenience line set-up, as the first coating machine directly after the RevoPortioner, followed by wet and dry coating systems.

Dust collection

The Active Flour Applicator applies a very precise amount of predust, which reduces the level of excess flour on the product, limiting the dust level to a minimum. Additionally, due to a vacuum created inside the machine, dust stays in the machine to keep the production environment clean. The optional dust cyclone’s filter allows large amounts of air from the machine to be filtered. This helps maintain a clean, dust-free working environment.

Capacity depends on the selected belt width. Belt conveyors are available in three different widths: 600, 700 and 1000 mm.

Uniform coverage

In the Active Flour Applicator, a loose underbed of flour is created. This enables products to sink into the flour bed. At the same time, the top side of the products are lightly sprinkled with flour, guaranteeing an optimum coverage of the top and bottom of the products. The machine’s air knife removes excess flour evenly across the belt. An optional pressure roller or vibrating plate further improves this process.

Cyclone for your clean production

The powerful vacuum easily attaches to the Active Flour Applicator, drawing excess coating directly from the machine to ensure a dust-free environment. The hygienic system means left over crumbs, flakes or flour can be collected in the Cyclone. Accessory is available to suit 600, 700 and 1000 mm machine widths.

Tool Cart for a streamlined cleaning process

The Tool Cart accessory serves as a handy companion during equipment cleaning and maintenance. Made from durable stainless steel and equipped with convenient hooks and wheels, it provides an organized place to keep machine parts and tools during disassembly. CrumbFeeder for increased coating efficiency and ergonomics

CrumbFeeder increases efficiency on the coating line in a simple, ergonomic and labor-efficient way.

Operators add several bags of coating material to the CrumbFeeder at an ergonomically safe height, with the feeder bringing up the material as it's needed. A sensor in the machine's bunker gives a signal when the level is low, so it's easy to monitor when additional material needs to be added.

By automatically bringing up coating material and alerting when the level is low, the CrumbFeeder reduces the demands on labor to free operators to manage several machines while keeping the line running.
