"We felt very welcome, back on Iranian grounds after several years of absence. It convinced us that it was the right choice to return to this event," says Ernst Kah, Marel Poultry Export Manager after the Food+Bev tec in Tehran, which took place from May 30th to June 2nd.

"Some visitors immediately recognized us after all these years, others were initially looking for the 'Stork' stand. They were unaware of the fact that, in the intermediate time, the name of our company was changed to 'Marel Poultry'."

Exhibitors, visitors and organizers were unanimously positive in their assessment of the Food+Bev Tec. With more than 40,000 visitors and 633 exhibitors from 37 countries, this trade show was bigger than ever before.

Now that sanctions are lifted, the Iranian market has a lot of potential for poultry processing, as it tries to become self-sufficient and even wants to be an exporting market soon. "Marel Poultry's solutions fit extremely well in this situation because we want to support the process of improving efficiency in Iranian poultry processing. That's what we noticed during the Food+Bev Tec: Iranian processors are looking for all opportunities to grow and become more efficient."

Together with Marel agent Majid Sadat Akhavi and Area Sales Manager Francis Fouwé, Ernst Kah could welcome a lot of – mainly Iranian – interested visitors at the Marel Poultry stand. In almost all cases, focus was on start-up semi-automated lines from 500 to 4,000 birds per hour.

With more than 80 million people, Iran is a promising market with rising demand for modern, processed food products, so the Iran Food+Bev Tec was an excellent opportunity for Marel Poultry to meet the customers of tomorrow.
